Centrumplan Ridderkerk
De Gemeente Ridderkerk is in 2000 een ambitieus plan gestart om het centrum ingrijpend te vernieuwen. In het gebied rond het raadhuis heeft alle bebouwing plaatsgemaakt voor nieuwbouw aan een nieuw plein. Dit ellipsvormige Koningsplein met het nieuwe stadhuis vormt het hart van het gemoderniseerde centrum. Na de uitbreiding is vanaf 2007 ook het oude centrum, dat deels bestaat uit winkelpassages, gerevitaliseerd. Het Sint Jorisplein is daarbij de tweede pool van het centrum geworden. Het project is in fasen opgeleverd en afgerond in 2019.
