Project information

The Venlo Municipal Office houses the offices of the civil servants for the municipality of Venlo. The building has eleven storeys and was designed according to the cradle-to-cradle principle. Its design incorporates systems and products from both the biological and technical cycles. The building’s north face is completely covered with vegetation, making it the world’s largest green façade. Consultation was initiated with Eindhoven University of Technology in order to substantiate the effect of this façade on the surrounding air quality. Input was solicited from suppliers of products from the biological cycle as well, while additional sessions were held for consultation on how to optimise the concrete composition. This ‘technical’ façade was further elaborated in collaboration with the design team and potential suppliers.
