Sea Lock IJmuiden

General
The new sea lock at IJmuiden in the Netherlands will be 70 metres wide, 500 metres long and 18 metres deep. It will be the world's widest and longest sea lock. OpenIJ engaged Iv-Infra to produce the design for the lock gates and the operating mechanisms. The sea lock complex acts as a primary water defence, which means the lock must not only keep the Amsterdam region easily accessible to increasingly larger seagoing vessels, but also protect part of the Netherlands against high water and rising sea levels for the next 100 years.
