Busstation Neckerspoel, Eindhoven

Busstation Neckerspoel is onderdeel van het plan Neckerspoel in Eindhoven. Het plan omvat de totale renovatie van het plein aan de noordzijde van het station en het eerste busstation van Nederland met computergestuurde haltetoewijzing.

Op het stationsplein vinden per dag circa 3000 busbewegingen plaats, zowel van stads- als streekbussen. Neckerspoel is het eerste busstation in Nederland waar informatie voor een groot deel computergestuurd aan de passagiers kenbaar wordt gemaakt. Hiertoe bevinden zich lussen in de bestrating van de aanrijroutes, waardoor automatisch wordt doorgegeven waar de bussen zich bevinden.

Voor de passagiers is er een centrale wachtkamer in het nieuwe stationsgebouw. Op displays wordt hen meegedeeld waar welke bus vertrekt, hoe laat, of er sprake is van vertraging etc. Groot voordeel van het systeem is dat er relatief weinig halteplaatsen nodig zijn, omdat elke bus(lijn) van elke halteplaats gebruik kan maken.

De hoofdconstructie wordt gevormd door een overspanning van staalkabels van bijna 80 meter lang, die op twee masten zijn afgespannen. De displays waarop de informatie verschijnt hangen aan deze staalkabels. De twee masten worden ook gebruikt voor de algemene verlichting van het plein. Oorspronkelijk waren hiervoor separate masten gepland. Onder de hoofdoverspanning bevinden zich 13 abri's van verschillende lengte. Deze zijn geheel uit gehard glas en hoogwaardig beschermd staal samengesteld. De constructie van de abri's werkt samen met de constructie van de grote overspanning. Samen verzorgen zij de stabiliteit.

The bus station is a part of the so-called 'Neckerspoel Plan' in Eindhoven. The plan involved the complete renovation of the square at the north side of the station. At the station square, there are some 3000 bus movements a day, both from local buses and regional buses.

It is the first station in The Netherlands where passenger information is mostly provided via computers. For this purpose, there are several sensors in the pavement of the bus route, so that the position of the bus is automatically passed on. There is a central waiting room for passengers in the new station building.

By means of displays, they are informed about which bus departs from which bus stop, at what time, whether there are any delays, et cetera. Passengers can stay inside for as long as possible, should they wish to do so. A great advantage of the system is that relatively few bus stops are required, since every bus (line) can use every bus stop. The main construction is formed by a system of steel cables, nearly 80 metres long, which is spanned between two masts.

The large information displays are suspended from these steel cables.

The two masts are also used for the overall lighting of the square. Originally, separate masts had been planned for this purpose.

Underneath the main span there are 13 shelters in various lengths. These shelters are entirely constructed out of tempered glass and high-grade protected steel.

The construction of the shelters co-operates (in a rather complex manner) with the construction of the large span. Together, they provide the stability of the unit.
